VALENTI SCHOOL, HOUSTON, TX
Type: Pro-Bono Redevelopment
Description: The Valenti School renovation will create a state-of-the-art media operation, including larger digital editing suites, an advanced broadcast control center and new two-story production studio to be constructed at the northeast corner of the existing structure.
Overview: In Spring 2008, the University of Houston renamed its School of Communications after alumnus and former Motion Picture Association of America head Jack J. Valenti. A $2.5 million capital campaign was launched shortly thereafter to raise funds for a complete renovation of the School.
Working in coordination with university staff and the UH Board of Regents, Wind River Group assumed development responsibilities for the project including initial planning/feasibility studies, conceptual design and assistance in the capital campaign effort.
As part of its efforts, WRG brought on board world-renowned architect Rick Keating, (Keating Khang Architecture) to create the initial design concept. The design phase was completed in April, 2009 and initial construction will commence in early 2010.
